Membership in the Fellows of Contemporary Art
directly supports emerging and mid-career California artists through membership dues, which are used both to fund exhibitions and to provide grants to individual artists. This support enhances artists’ careers by providing vital opportunities for exposure and recognition.

Membership in FOCA is by invitation.
Members enjoy a diverse and engaging program to keep them abreast of the latest developments in contemporary art, including invitations to members-only activities and to local, national, and international tours. Membership in the Fellows of Contemporary Art is a WIN-WIN-WIN proposition: for art institutions, for artists, and for every enriched member.

FOCA programs include:

The Fellows of Contemporary Art is not affiliated with any museum. Museum support groups typically provide revenue for operating expenses and for the purchase of artwork. FOCA provides grants directly to curators for exhibits that feature emerging and mid-career California artists. In 2006, we will also provide grants directly to mid-career artists. Annual membership dues are the foundation to fulfill our important mission and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Guidelines for Membership
A prospective member must be nominated by a FOCA member and must have a letter from a second member. The Nominating Form must be completed in its entirety for each nominee (download Nominating Form here). Board meetings are held each month to review membership nominations.
Membership is per household. Membership is non-transferable.
Membership dues are annual from the month of joining.
