Membership in FOCA is by invitation.
Members enjoy a diverse and engaging program to keep them abreast of the latest developments in contemporary art, including invitations to members-only activities and to local, national, and international tours. Membership in the Fellows of Contemporary Art is a WIN-WIN-WIN proposition: for art institutions, for artists, and for every enriched member.
FOCA programs include:
- Previews of significant contemporary art exhibitions with curators—an opportunity to see the show through their eyes and to discover what underlying ideas drive the artists’ visions
- Studio visits with emerging and mid-career artists
- Tours of local collections to discover how people with passion and intelligence choose to live their lives surrounded by art they love
- Visits to local galleries and alternative spaces for an overall view of what is happening in commercial galleries and in adventurous not-for-profit spaces
- Sunday Salons—intimate gatherings in collectors’ homes, galleries, or artists’ studios, joined by artists, curators, critics, gallerists, or writers for in-depth discussions on a variety of topics related to contemporary art
- National and international tours to significant public and private art collections and to artists’ studios
In 2006 we initiated a program to provide grants directly to mid-career artists. Annual membership dues are the foundation to fulfill our important mission and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
