For 30 years the Fellows of Contemporary Art
has played a unique and significant role in the development of art in California. We are a nonprofit corporation that was formed in 1975 in Los Angeles with a commitment to and passion for contemporary art. Supported by an active and enthusiastic membership drawn primarily, but not exclusively, from Southern California, it includes collectors and individuals knowledgeable about art, as well as those who feel the passion and want to learn more about the art of today.

Our goal is to support
and foster interest in contemporary art by underwriting exhibitions and by working closely in a collaborative effort with a variety of museums, galleries and institutions. Since our incorporation, the Fellows of Contemporary Art has sponsored over thirty-five exhibits at more than forty venues nationwide. These exhibits have featured both emerging and mid-career California artists, who work in a wide variety of media. All professionally curated exhibits are documented with a fully illustrated, scholarly catalogue, and some shows are invited to travel nationally and internationally.

In addition to our exhibitions,
we provide our members with extensive informative and scholarly activities. Through visits to artists’ studios, private and public collections, lectures and panel discussions, we keep in touch with current developments in the field of contemporary art. Complementing these programs, FOCA also organizes national and international tours of art communities and significant exhibits.
